The California NIF Network offers workshops that are unique within the national NIF and deliberation communities. If you are just getting acquainted with deliberative methods or are a long-time NIF practitioner, you'll discover some fresh insights and interactive practices in each of our workshops. When the California Network began, annual workshops were held at UC Davis with a comprehensive teaching approach...these sessions where know as the 'Public Policy Institute.' In recent years, shorter basic-level workshops are held annually with more advanced workshops being scheduled as needed. Additional workshops will be scheduled and customized for groups with at least eight (8) participants. The California faculty can schedule on-site training sessions for organizations and community leaders with the interest in developing deliberative decision making in a local context. Contracts will include a stipend, travel expenses and materials.

Important Note: There is a sequence of experiential and practical learning behind our workshops. It's important to attend a session of NIF Basics before attending any of the more advanced sessions. In addition, some applied civic engagement work is most helpful before attending the advanced sessions in order for the terminology and the methods to be fully appreciated in their uniqueness and importance.
